She is a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, and a CEDR Accredited Mediator. WWL ranks her as Global Leader in International arbitration.
She specialises in domestic and international human rights, public and private comparative law, and international commercial law with an emphasis on international commercial contracts and dispute resolution.
Professor Butler coached a winning team for the Willem C. Vis Moot at the Victoria University of Wellington and arbitrated the final hearing at the 27th Willem C. Vis Moot in 2020.
She has been named to Global Arbitration Review’s “Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration” since 2015 and to “The Best Lawyers in America, International Arbitration/Governmental” since 2014.
For nine years, Ms. Ryan Robertson served the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), most recently as global President for the year 2021.
For a number of years, she has been an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law Center and coached the Law Center’s Willem C. Vis Moot team for almost two decades.

Eric Ives is an Associate in the International Arbitration Group at White & Case LLP. He first joined the Columbia Law School Willem C. Vis Moot team in 2016 as a 1L on the briefs in the
24th Moot, helping his team win the Eric E. Bergsten Prize for Claimant's Memorial that year. He then competed in the oral rounds in the 25th Moot as a 2L where his team advanced to the
Round of 8 and he earned an Honorable Mention for his oral advocacy. He remains an avid supporter of the moot and looks forward to the Problem each year.
